Creating a transparent and efficient way to pay the women we work with was one of my biggest challenges.
It took a lot of investigation and thought. But now we have a payment method that everyone can trust.
Each group of artisans is paid and benefits in a manner dependent on their circumstances. See below for details.

The Ari tribeswomen in Omo Valley, Ethiopia who create the patterns of Bartsi, or Giving Beauty, are paid upfront for their artwork. If a pattern is used in a product, they are paid a modest licensing fee. If an actual painting sells, they get 50% of the purchase price. So they can make money 3 different ways from the same painting.

Amour Leather is a progressive, Ethiopian female owned company in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia that employs women at risk. This  includes women who had been living on the streets, or are  HIV+ or  from domestic violence situations or the disabled. Amour Leather taught them the skill of making excellent bags, purses and our Aqua Packs. The employees are paid many times what other Ethiopian companies pay and have an investment in the company.
Amour's mission is to create job opportunities to empower women and improve their quality of life. Ethio Sky pays Amour Leather for their goods via SWIFT International Transfer. Amour then pays the employees. Founder Lori Precious visits the place of manufacturing once a year.

Women in the Hamar tribe in Omo Valley, Ethiopia are known for their beadwork.
They make the necklaces sold by Ethio Sky.
We pay them at the time we pick up the products during our regular visits.
